What is root canal therapy?

Root canal therapy is an endodontic treatment that removes the nerve, called the pulp, from a tooth when it has lost vitality. This is necessary for teeth that are non-vital from infection to prevent further loss of tooth structure.

While we offer root canal second opinions and prevention options for many patients, there are some teeth that still benefit from endodontic treatment. In these cases Dr. Alleman will perform the root canal as part of your restorative appointment or before restoration at a recommended endodontist.

Biomimetic restorative dentistry can still benefit endodontically treated teeth, by conserving remaining tooth structure, safely removing cracks and sealing the tooth from reinfection.
